Growing

Posted by Scott at 4:21 pm

In less than 24 hours, we’ve gone from 0 to almost 200 people using Groupvine.

We want this to be something you use everyday — something simple, fun, and most of all, useful.  So give us some feedback — if something can be improved, visit the forums, email us or comment here.

Soon we’ll be launching some improvements and new features.  You’ll be the first to know about them.

By the way: email scotthurff at thegroupvine dot com if you want to be a part of a customer advisory board — help us figure out new features, improvements and be the first to hear about what’s going to happen with Groupvine.

WFU Rocks

Posted by Scott at 7:36 pm

Even though our basketball team sucks right now, WFU is getting the first taste of Groupvine.  And how sweet it is.  Stay tuned to this blog for service updates and new features — and please drop us a line if you have questions, comments, or whatnot.

Oh, and while you’re at it, take a look at our forum (warning: still a little rough on the eyes), or the help blog if you’re confused about something.

In the meantime, keep growing your organizations!

First press

Some choice quotations from the OGB story:

GroupVine, a campus organization service developed by five university seniors, is set to launch this month with the goal to provide all groups on campus the ability to manage their organizations online. Hemphill said that generating buzz on campus about the service is the most important thing for the creators to do right now. They have been spreading the word about the GroupVine through word of mouth, networking, advertising and online sites.

“College is supposed to be fun, but too often running an organization is not.
People abuse listserves, there’s too much paperwork to fill out, meetings rarely get people on the same page and important files get lost,” Hurff said. “GroupVine was created to fix these problems and make running an organization even more fun.”

With the help of seniors Casey Pugh and Nick Dunkman, two programmers who built The Student, online university magazine, GreekWorks was rebuilt to include all student groups and was renamed GroupVine. The creators also worked directly with national organizations and Student Government to develop GroupVine.

GroupWrangler is now Groupvine

Posted by Scott at 2:12 am

GroupWrangler is now Groupvine.  After much hemming and hawing, we collectively decided that Groupvine is a stronger, clearer and workable product name than GroupWrangler.  Moreover, it’s less of a mouthful!

So chalk it up to Groupvine, the best thing to happen to campus organizations since the College Republicans formed.  I kid.

You heard it through Groupvine.

Fresh off the Groupvine.

I could go on…but I’ll spare you.

We’re launching for Wake Forest within the coming week or so and we’ve got two accounts in the works — one large one in Virginia and a smaller one in Pennsylvania — that we’ll be announcing soon.

Hooray!  Tell your friends!
